The Sun Inferno series rims was Sun's first linear, comprehensive foray into the MTB rim market with their own branded product line, at least as far back as we can remember. The Inferno rims are weight competitive, easy to live with in terms of tire installation, perform well, come in varying widths from narrow XC to wide whatever, and are budget friendly; all without skimping on quality. While Sun-Ringle produces rims for other rim/bike brands, Sun Inferno's are represented in their own catalog.
We’re offering to build these wheels two ways. You can go with a budget friendly QR Formula MTB series 6-bolt disc hub laced with black spokes, or you can upgrade to a QR Shimano Deore 6-bolt disc hub set, (M525 series) with DT Swiss black stainless 2.0mm (14g) spokes. Both rear hub options have a Shimano HG compatible freehub, which is to say that they are Shimano MTB cassette 8/9/10/11 speed compatible. You can still run a 6 or 7 speed cassette on them as well, but you'll need to source a 4.5mm spacer (6 speed), or 4 mm spacer (7 speed) that is compatible with your cassette's function. These wheels are built with 32 spokes front and rear, laced three cross with 12mm brass chrome plated nipples.
These wheels are an upgrade over most "new bike" wheels. Like with all our wheels, we build them with care, and finish them to as precise of a degree as possible.
