Description
The Sun SOS disc rim offers a ton of strength, especially given its rim weight, (22.8mm inner at 500g). The rim has a welded seam, single stainless spoke hole eyelets, has an efficient arch design/profile, and is finished to an incredibly exacting standard. Given the SOS’ rim strength, and just how precise it is finished, we’re able to build and true wheels with consistent spoke tension down to 3 to 4 thousandths of an inch. If only every rim could be so good…
These wheels will feel solid, which hopefully will lead to confidence inspiring performance out on the trail. Don’t let the overall wheel set weight steer you away; the rims, nipples, and spokes are all light weight given their performance capability. The hubs are definitely on the heavier side of the spectrum. Shimano Deore hubs do a lot of things well, (function, durability, maintenance, etc.), but they’re just not the lightest hub set out there. That’s okay though. These hubs will hold up, and over the years you may find yourself forming a bond with them. Hopefully in the meantime, you’ll appreciate how good of a deal this wheel set truly is. Thanks for looking.
